Mobile County Emergency Rental Assistance

Mobile County has launched an Emergency Rental Assistance (ERA) program to aid eligible households in need of rental and utility assistance. Having been awarded $12.3 million from the U.S. Department of the Treasury to establish the ERA program (part of the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021), the county will be working with local nonprofits to address applications, which are now available. At least one or more individuals in a qualifying household must qualify for unemployment or have a reduction in household income, incurred significant costs or experienced a financial hardship due to COVID-19; demonstrate a risk of experiencing homelessness or housing instability; and have a household income at or below 80% of the area median. Eligible households with an individual who has been unemployed for 90 days prior to applying for assistance and households with income at or below 50% of the area median are to be prioritized.
