Mobile Kicks Off “Complete Streets” Project

The City of Mobile recently hosted a public meeting about the upcoming Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue “Complete Streets” project. Stakeholders and residents learned more about the upcoming improvements to the avenue. This project will be the first “Complete Streets” redesign the city has undertaken of a major corridor in a historic neighborhood. In addition to repaving the avenue, there will be new underground utilities, improved stormwater assets, new pedestrian lighting, improved traffic signals, sidewalks, street crossings, bicycle lanes, improved streetscaping and on-street parking. Part of the Broad Street initiative, its goal is to reconnect neighborhoods, improve aging infrastructure and create attractive and safe spaces for vehicles and pedestrians.
