Mobile Kicks Off Safer Communities Task Force

The City of Mobile announced that Mayor Spiro Cheriogotis has tapped an experienced group of local experts and leaders to focus on strengthening violence-prevention efforts across the city. The Safer Communities Task Force will advise the city’s public safety leadership on data-informed strategies aimed at reducing serious violence and improving coordination among the agencies and organizations already working with at-risk youth and families in Mobile. It includes representatives from local public safety, public health and educational institutions, as well as faith-based, social service, workforce development and community organizations. “By combining professional expertise with strong community ties, the Safer Communities Task Force will provide Mayor Cheriogotis and other city leaders with a clearer picture of where gaps exist and how existing programs and services can be better aligned to serve individuals and the community,” the city said.
