Mobile Opens New Senior Center

City of Mobile leaders joined with seniors and stakeholders in the Hillsdale community on August 27 to celebrate the opening of a new facility for seniors with a ribbon cutting of the John E. King Senior Center at 6024 Lorma Road. Honoring a longtime resident and active member of the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, the facility includes TVs, spaces for games and activities and a warming kitchen to serve hot meals to seniors through the city’s Stay Active and Independent for Life program. It was designed to keep seniors in the area active and help them build lasting friendships.
