Mobile Police Opens New First Precinct

MOBILE, Ala. — The Mobile Police Department recently opened its new first precinct at 2601 Dauphin Island Parkway, Mayor Sandy Stimpson announced. “This new location will mean improved response times and increased police visibility in the community,” he added. This location also has a municipal court clerk at the facility so residents no longer have to go downtown to pay city tickets. Additionally, it is large enough to host community meetings and has classrooms that will allow the department to train a third class of police recruits each year (BBN #46). Stimpson said this is the third precinct built under his administration and the final piece of his administration’s strategic plan to centrally locate police precincts across the city. The plan’s focus has been on increasing response times and making officers more accessible to the communities they serve.
