Mobile Receives Second Half Of ARP Funds

MOBILE, Ala. — The City of Mobile has received the second half of a $58-million allocation from the U.S. Treasury Department outlined in the 2021 American Rescue Plan Act (ARP), it announced. This second allotment of $29 million will continue to fund the programs, projects and services outlined in Mayor Sandy Stimpson’s “People First Plan,” which was adopted by the Mobile City Council last summer. A continued expansion of affordable housing, economic assistance to citizens and small businesses and the establishment of new gun violence prevention programs and strategies are all on the list. The city has spent or obligated more than $20 million through nearly two dozen projects and programs since the first batch of ARP funding was received in 2021.
