Mobile Sets Annexation Referendum

A referendum to annex 25,803 West Mobile residents into the City of Mobile will be held on July 18, AL.com reported. Residents in four areas of unincorporated territory west of the city will vote on becoming part of the city. The following areas will vote independently of each other: residents west of Dawes Road, in the Airport area, will vote at Baker High School; residents east of Dawes Road, in the Cottage Hill area, will vote at Creekwood Church of Christ; residents in the Orchard Estates Area will vote at the Jon Archer Agricultural Center; and residents in the Kings Branch Estates Area will vote at Word In Season Ministries Church. Only registered voters who have lived in the proposed areas for at least three months prior to the election may vote.
