Mobile Signs 22-Year Civic Center, Hockey Contract With OVG

The City of Mobile recently entered into a 22-year contract with Colorado-based Oak View Group (OVG) to manage its new $300-million Civic Center arena, AL.com reports. The agreement empowers OVG to manage the new arena once it is completed, anticipated in early 2027. Last year, the firm was awarded the management contracts for the Mobile Convention Center and Saenger Theatre Mobile. The agreement requires OVG to contribute $15 million toward the arena’s construction. The city’s commitment to OVG will be $400,000 in a flat annual fee. OVG will also get a share of the arena’s revenue, ranging from 5% to 30%, depending on how much money the building generates. OVG will separately negotiate a hockey contract with a prospective minor league franchise. The new arena is expected to be under construction by March.
