Mobile’s Morris Is New Fire Chief

The Mobile Fire-Rescue Department (MFRD) recently swore in Johnny Morris, Jr. as its new fire chief. MFRD said Morris, who most recently served as its chief of staff, played an integral role in making MFRD one of only nine fire departments in the nation with an Insurance Services Office ISO-1 rating and accreditations by the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services and Commission on Fire Accreditation International. Morris is a native Mobilian who joined the department in 1990 and has held leadership roles within multiple divisions of MFRD since. Morris said he hopes to increase MFRD’s presence in non-emergency situations and foster more positive, everyday interactions with citizens.
