Old Towne Daphne Revamp Put In Motion

Changes are planned for Old Towne Daphne along approximately a mile of Main Street, FOX10 reports. The planned changes will be between Lott Park on the north end and Potters Mill to the south. The work will be done in several phases, the first and most expensive being relocation of utilities underground. Streetside parking will be added, along with sidewalks down both sides of Main Street. The entire streetscaping could take up to four years to complete, with the goal of making Old Town Daphne more appealing to both businesses and visitors. The anticipated cost for the entire project is expected to be approximately $12 million. The city has already approved spending the first $800,000 for engineering, which is to take approximately a year.
