Plans Progress For Foley Library

Plans are advancing for the new Foley Public Library, for which construction is to commence in early 2024 for a 2025 opening, Gulf Coast Media reports. The upcoming library is projected to encompass nearly 40,000 ft2, approximately double the size of the existing facility, which it will replace next to the Foley Dog Park and south of the post office. According to Foley’s Executive Director of Leisure Services David Thompson, the new library is to be a comprehensive community center, featuring meeting spaces, an auditorium, computer labs, study rooms, a café and a bookstore. The first floor is to accommodate a children’s area and multipurpose room, which will function as both a meeting space and an auditorium. The children’s area will undergo expansion and incorporate computers, along with an activity room. This space will also be adaptable for hosting story-times for young children. A separate area for teens will be on the second floor, which will also include the adult section and computer labs. Additional facilities slated for the new library include a science, technology, engineering and mathematics laboratory and dedicated spaces for programs such as special-needs activities.
