Stimpson Named To MAA Board

Mobile Mayor Spiro Cheriogotis has nominated former Mayor Sandy Stimpson to serve on the Board of the Mobile Airport Authority to support the launch of Mobile International Airport, the city announced. To make room on the board, Treasurer David White stepped down after nearly four years of service to the organization. Stimpson, who served 12 years as Mobile’s mayor, championed the relocation of commercial passenger air service from Mobile Regional Airport in West Mobile to Brookley Field downtown. For more than a decade, he worked closely with federal, state and local leaders to secure the approvals and funding necessary for the critical project. The $362-million airport is to open in the fall.
