Stimpson Shares Proposal For Rescue Plan Funds

Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson will be promoting uses for the $58.2 million the city received from the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, WKRG reports. The city’s finance committee will meet on June 29 to further discuss bonuses of $5,000 and $2,500 to full- and part-time city employees, respectively. Intended for those the city employed during March 2020-March 2021, it has been dubbed the “People First” plan by Stimpson. It also calls for funding for “those hit hardest by the coronavirus pandemic,” including “addressing negative economic impacts,” funding “equity-focused services” and expanding broadband infrastructure.
