Thousands Served At New Mobile Food Pantries

More than 28,690 residents received food assistance from the City of Mobile’s new food pantries over the last 11 months, Mayor Sandy Stimpson announced. The city established the pantries in the first, second and third city council districts in early 2022. They leverage federal funding to expand access to quality food and nutrition through partnerships with local community organizations and nonprofit Feeding the Gulf Coast. The Crichton/Toulminville Community Development Corp. is operating the food pantry in District 1 out of Dotch Community Center (3100 Bank Avenue) every Wednesday, the Africatown food pantry in District 2 is housed in the Robert Hope Community Center (850 Edwards Street) and is open the second and fourth Tuesday of each month, and the District 3 food pantry is operated by a partnership between the Revelation/Maysville Community Development Corp. and First Baptist Missionary Baptist Church of Baltimore Street.
