Tillman’s Corner Beautification Work Greenlit
The Mobile City Council has approved a beautification project for Tillman’s Corner that has been talked about for more than 10 years, FOX10 reported. The goal of the “Gateway Initiative” is to make the I-10 interchange on Highway 90 more inviting to travelers. The first phase of the project is expected to start in a matter of months. It will include signage, oak trees and other landscaping. “Eventually, we’ll get to fancy light poles and better street lights and all that sort of stuff,” said Councilman Ben Reynolds. “The idea is to tie into all the new development stuff that’s happening in Tillman’s Corner, to sort of beautify the area, increase the confidence level of visitors to come and stay at the hotels within Tillman’s Corner.” The $125,000 cost will be paid from a special tax assessed on hotel and motel guests throughout the city.
