Tourism Sets Records

MOBILE, BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. — Gov. Kay Ivey recently announced a record-breaking year for tourism in her release of the 2021 Alabama Tourism Department Economic Impact Report. Mobile and Baldwin counties were among the top five most visited counties in the state, with the latter topping several categories, including “most seasonality in travel and tourism activities.” Mobile County visitors spent a record $1.5 billion in restaurants, hotels, attractions, shops, gas stations, etc. This represents a 36.1% increase over 2020 and a $200-million increase over any previous year. The increase was even greater for Baldwin County, at 50%.
