Family Health Chosen For First Cervical Cancer Learning Series

Family Health, the primary care division of the Mobile County Health Department, has been chosen as a participant in the CERV-Net: A Cervical Cancer ECHO Learning Series. Family Health is one of 12 healthcare agencies in the country chosen by the office of women’s health division of the Health Resources and Services Administration. This is the first time ECHO has offered this learning series. CERV-Net is an 11-week training event for healthcare providers, and the first session began on March 7. CERV-Net is a virtual, collaborative learning series that prepares and empowers providers to engage partners, patients and communities to improve cervical cancer care. Topics covered include patient-centered care and the latest advancements in cervical cancer care. Family Health is one of two agencies in the state selected to participate in the learning series. Two women’s health providers at Family Health were selected to champion this learning series: Dr. Christen Altermatt and Maria Beck. Both providers offer patients opportunities for both cervical and breast cancer screenings.
