Franklin Primary To Celebrate 50 Years
On January 31, 2025, Franklin Primary Health Center, Inc. will celebrate 50 years in operation at its inaugural Founder’s Day Gala. This event will pay tribute to Franklin Primary’s founders, founding board members, their families and other distinguished guests who played pivotal roles in bringing healthcare services to the medically underserved Davis Avenue Community. Marking the 50th anniversary of Franklin Primary as a federally qualified health center, the gala will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. at The Battle House Renaissance Mobile Hotel in Downtown Mobile. The Dr. James Alexander Franklin Humanitarian Award and Aiello-Buskey Leadership in Community Health Award will be presented that evening to honor two distinguished individuals for their exceptional contributions to the community and their embodiment of Franklin’s legacy of service. These awards underscore Franklin Primary’s unwavering commitment to community service and healthcare, celebrating leaders whose work mirrors the dedication, compassion and impact demonstrated by Dr. James Franklin, Dr. Marilyn Aiello and James Buskey. The event’s keynote speaker is Emmitt Smith, a former professional football running back who played in the National Football League for 15 seasons, 13 with the Dallas Cowboys and two with the Arizona Cardinals. He is the league’s all-time leading rusher and was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2010. Smith has since transitioned to the role of entrepreneur and runs several companies spanning real estate, construction and technology. He is active in charitable outreach in Dallas and nationally, providing educational opportunities and unique experiences for underserved youth.
