GRECS Employee Becomes Licensed Therapist

Gulf Regional Early Childhood Services (GRECS) has announced that its employee Steffani Hammitt has become a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT). Hammitt’s motivation to pursue a career in therapy stemmed from her experience working with parents who had lost custody of their children while employed by the Department of Children and Families in Florida. She realized the importance of a generational approach in mental health and found that MFTs look at issues with a systems lens. After completing years of schooling, Hammitt had to go through years of supervision and pass a board exam. Her next step is to become certified in play therapy, and she eventually wants to become a licensed supervisor to help associate therapists.
