Infirmary Neurosurgery Adds Physician

MOBILE, Ala. — Infirmary Neurosurgery in Mobile announced the addition of Dr. Nidal Bassam Omar, neurosurgeon, following the completion of his residency with the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). Omar is a graduate of the University of South Alabama with bachelor’s degrees in biomedical sciences and psychology. He earned his medical degree from UAB. Omar is a recipient of the Stephen Mahaley Jr. MD Award for Translational Research at UAB Neurosurgery’s 37th Annual J. Garber Galbraith, MD Scientific Session and Lecture. He was also awarded UAB Neurosurgery’s inaugural Jacob R. Lepard MD Award for Outstanding PGY-2 Resident Consultant in Neurosurgery. Omar’s research on a variety of neuroscience topics has been widely published, and he has co-authored multiple chapters in academic textbooks.
