New WIC Program Director For Mobile County

The Mobile County Health Department (MCHD) has announced that Monique McMillan has been named district nutrition director for the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) supplemental nutrition program for Mobile County. McMillan is a native of Mobile and graduate of Baker High School. She earned her BS in biology from Tuskegee University in 2018. While there, she assisted in prostate and lupus research with Dr. Honghe Wang and Dr. Marcia Martinez. McMillan received a master’s degree in family and consumer sciences with a concentration in nutrition from Alabama A&M University in 2020. She then completed her dietetic internship, which consisted of 1,286 supervised practice hours and 26 rotations, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in 2021. MCHD’s Bureau of Community and Nutrition Services manages the local WIC program. A monthly average of 10,546 participants received WIC food instruments during fiscal year 2022.
