North Baldwin Infirmary Adds Cardiac Stress Lab

Bay Minette’s North Baldwin Infirmary Cardiac Imaging Services has a new cardiac stress lab equipped with the technology for walking stress tests, chemically induced stress tests, nuclear stress tests, stress echocardiography and more, according to a recent announcement. Stress tests such as these are ordered by a physician to evaluate how exercise and stress affect the body. The test results are used to help determine the next steps in completing cardiac care. Under the direction of a cardiologist and radiologist and a multidisciplinary team of registered nurses trained in the procedure, sonographers and nuclear medicine technologists, the lab is also equipped for image-guided minimally invasive procedures and post-procedure monitoring. In the future, it will house a new DEXA bone-mineral-density scanner.
