SMC Inpatient Rehab Named Best In State

Springhill Medical Center (SMC) Inpatient Rehab Center has been named best physical rehabilitation center in Alabama by Newsweek in its annual rankings of “America’s Best Physical Rehabilitation Centers.” The list is based on quality of care, quality of service, quality of followup care and accommodation and amenities. Its methodology includes data from a survey of thousands of medical experts, along with quality measures from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. The SMC Inpatient Rehab Center is a partnership between Kindred Hospital Rehabilitation Services and SMC. It features an 11-bed acute rehabilitation unit that cares for adults recovering from conditions such as stroke, neurological disease, post-COVID 19 complications, trauma, limb loss, injury to the brain or spinal cord and other long-term illnesses or injuries. It is in the process of being expanded to 18 beds. Dr. Ozgur Oztas is medical director of the program, which began at SMC in 2015.
