South Baldwin Regional Medical Center Opens FED In Gulf Shores

South Baldwin Regional Medical Center recently cut the ribbon on its new freestanding emergency department (FED) in Gulf Shores, Business Alabama reported. The more-than-14,000-ft2 center provides 24/7 emergency services to and allows for faster treatment for people in south Baldwin County. The FED has nine exam rooms and one major exam room, onsite lab services, diagnostic imaging for MRIs, X-rays, CT scans with fluoroscopy, ultrasounds, mammograms and bone-density scans. In January, South Baldwin Regional Medical Center announced a $186-million project to expand and modernize the hospital (BBN #26). Other plans for the expansion at the main campus include a 133,433-ft2, four-story patient tower with a new surgical department on the first floor with a dedicated outpatient entrance.
