University Hospital Gets $4 Million For Generator System

USA Health announced receipt of a grant for approximately $4 million from the U.S. Economic Development Administration to purchase and install a full-load generator system at its University Hospital to ensure full electrical capacity during a power failure. The project is to take approximately 18 months to complete and includes modernizing the hospital’s entire electrical system. “Through this grant and resulting electrical backup system, University Hospital will become the only hospital in the region to have full electrical capabilities during a natural disaster or local utility failure,” said USA Health CEO Owen Bailey. “Our former head of facilities, Lawrence Gardner, had been working for the past several years to upgrade our reserve energy system. Even though he retired a few weeks ago, the positive outcome of this grant application is a tribute to his efforts and planning.”
