USA Health Cuts Ribbon On Trauma Center

A ribbon-cutting is underway now at the new USA Health University Hospital Fanny Meisler Trauma Center in Mobile. The 27,000-ft2 facility will nearly triple the amount of space in the current University Hospital emergency department. The center has 38 examination rooms, three trauma bays and CT and X-ray imaging. Those present include Gov. Kay Ivey, longtime USA Health benefactor Bert Meisler, USA Board of Trustees Chair Jimmy Shumock, USA Vice President for Medical Affairs and USA College of Medicine Dean Dr. John Marymont, and USA Health CEO Owen Bailey. White-Spunner Construction was general contractor, and Caldwell Associates was architect for the renovation, expansion and modernization of the current trauma center, enhancing the hospital’s ability to accommodate patients with traumatic injuries and respond to mass-casualty situations across the region.
