USA Health Mitchell Cancer Adds Genetic Counselor

The USA Health Mitchell Cancer Institute has expanded its genetic counseling services with the addition of board-certified genetic counselor Amanda Trulock. Trulock will provide genetic testing and counseling for cancer patients and their families who suspect they carry a harmful genetic mutation that increases the risk of cancer. Trulock joins Cassie Gurganus in providing both in-person and virtual genetic counseling from two board-certified professionals. Trulock most recently worked as a clinical and research genetic counselor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she provided genetic counseling across multiple clinical settings. She also served as an investigator for a multisite National Institutes of Health-funded research study and clinical trial evaluating the utility of whole-genome sequencing in critically ill neonates. She presented results from the study at the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics annual meeting in 2021. Trulock earned an MS in genetic counseling from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She holds the Certified Genetic Counselor credential from the American Board of Genetic Counseling.
