USA Health Uses AI For Colonoscopy Screenings

MOBILE, Ala — USA Health is the only health system in the region to offer enhanced colonoscopy screenings with the aid of the GI Genius intelligent endoscopy module, it announced. The module employs artificial intelligence (AI) to help physicians detect polyps. Studies have shown that AI-assisted colonoscopy can increase polyp detection rates and that every 1% increase in the detection rate of adenomas reduces the risk of colorectal cancer by 3%. Colorectal cancer is the third-most common form of cancer diagnosed in the U.S., with almost 150,000 new cases every year.
