Gulf Shores To Consider 3% Lodging Tax Increase

The City of Gulf Shores is holding a Special Council Meeting to discuss a proposed 3% lodging tax increase to fund various capital improvement projects over the next 10 years. This meeting is open to the public and will be held on November 29 at 4 p.m. in the Gulf Shores City Council Chambers. The tax increase is projected to generate $6.9 million in 2022. If passed, the additional revenue would be used to expand transportation capacity, bolster public safety, increase recreation amenities, enhance education and improve the quality of life for residents and the overall visitor experience, the city said. Council consideration and voting on the tax will take place at the December 13 City Council Work Session and Regular Council Meeting. The date is intended to allow additional time to receive feedback from residents and business owners.
