Panini Pete’s Beignet Mix Goes Nationwide

Pete Blohme, owner of Fairhope-based Panini Pete’s, recently made his beignet mix available for purchase online nationwide. AL.com added that Blohme has also offered the pastries at his three other venues: Squid Ink Eclectic Eats and Drinks in downtown Mobile, Ed’s Seafood Shed on the Causeway and Sunset Pointe in Fairhope. The nontraditional recipe was developed to be less labor intensive for restaurant staff, a benefit Blohme thinks will carry over to home chefs. The 1-lb bag of seasoned mix costs $6.99 and can make dozens of beignets with the addition of water, butter and eggs, plus sugar for dusting and a fresh squeeze of lemon juice as seen in Blohme’s detailed demonstration video. The mix is also available at his restaurants and select Lower Alabama grocery stores.
