The Fairhope Hotel Opens

The Fairhope Hotel, formerly announced as the Summit Street Inn, held its official grand opening on July 30 at 131 Fairhope Avenue, and bookings are live. Built in 1925 as the New Fairhope Hotel, the boutique hotel is in the heart of Fairhope’s Bayfront Historic District and listed on the National Register of Historic Places and Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage. The 4,190-ft2 two-story structure has been restored to preserve its historic character. The inn features six suites, each with a private bath and custom cypress beds handcrafted by local woodworker Glen De Gruy. A defining feature of the inn is its wraparound front porch lined with classic rocking chairs and overlooking downtown. The renovation was led by Fairhope Building Co., with builder Lane Otto and project supervisor Josh Dike overseeing the work.
