Bitcoin Mining Headed For Gulfquest

DAPHNE, Ala. — Daphne’s Distributed Ledger, a blockchain technology service provider, in partnership with the GulfQuest Maritime Museum Board, has announced it is bringing Bitcoin mining to Mobile. It will use a modified shipping container to house 100 Bitmain Antminer S19s units, all of which will be fully air cooled on-site while they mine Bitcoin around the clock and, the company says, lay the groundwork for government funding and subsequent infrastructure funded through cryptocurrency mining revenue. While highlighting Mobile and GulfQuest’s maritime ties, Distributed Ledger said, “Maersk Shipping, the world’s largest container shipper, already has 50% of all containers globally on its dynamic TradeLens blockchain. The entire world is moving in the direction of blockchain and Bitcoin in all industries and governments.” According to AL.com, former Mobile Mayor and current executive director of GulfQuest Mike Dow said there is no risk nor upfront public costs to the city.
