DISL Launches Weather Conditions App

With the Dauphin Island Sea Lab’s (DISL) Alabama Real-Time Coastal Observing System (ARCOS) app, users can now check current weather conditions across Mobile Bay. ARCOS provides up-to-date information on wind speed and direction, and air and water temperature. There is also information on salinity, oxygen levels and tides. Updates to DISL’s ARCOS website (incorporated by the app) include providing the three-day National Weather Center forecast, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration tide predictions for Dauphin Island, a new station at Gulf State Park Pier and, wave measurements from a Sofar Spotter buoy deployed just off the coast of Dauphin Island. The buoy measures wave height, wave direction, surface temperature and water pressure.
