SAVLP Celebrates Volunteers Of The Year

The South Alabama Volunteer Lawyers Program (SAVLP) recently named its 2023 Volunteers of the Year, the Mobile Bar Association announced. Gilbert B. Laden is the Mobile Bar Association Ben Kilborn Volunteer Lawyer of the Year, and John G. Roach, III, and Lynn Biles are recipients of the Margaret F. Demeranville Award. The Ben Kilborn Award recognizes an attorney who shows outstanding commitment to volunteer legal services and whose accomplishments are exceptional. Laden is a decades-long volunteer who SAVLP says has given extraordinary dedication and service, including pro bono assistance to SAVLP clients in 2023 and approximately 1,000 pro bono hours during his tenure as a SAVLP volunteer. The Margaret F. Demeranville Award honors service that reflects a true commitment to equal justice. Roach, vice president of the Baldwin County Bar Association, and Biles, the association’s executive director, connect volunteer attorneys to pro bono opportunities in Baldwin County. Their work enabled SAVLP to greatly expand its services to clients across Mobile Bay.
