950 Acres In Loxley Eyed For Warehousing, Logistics Center

A major warehousing and logistics operation could be coming to Loxley on more than 950 acres located on the southwest corner of Highway 59 and I-10, NBC reports. The property has been rezoned and annexed into the city as an industrial area. Texas-based Gulf Corp. is to create a multiphase industrial project including more than 27 industrial buildings that would cover more than 900 acres. The development would impact more than 13 acres of wetlands. Gulf has requested the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Alabama Department of Environmental Management take advantage of that land. There is no timeline for when that request will be approved or denied, but a joint public notice was submitted last week, which makes the project open to public comment.
