Austal Benefits In Modified Contract

The U.S. Navy has awarded a $13.3-million modification to its contract with Austal USA in Mobile for post-delivery support of the new USS Savannah (Littoral Combat Ship 28), Business Alabama reports. Eighty percent of the work is to be performed in Mobile, with the remainder in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. All work under the contract should be completed by the end of 2022. The ship was christened in August and launched in September, and was preparing for sea trials last month.
