Blakeley Boatworks Receives Grant

MOBILE, Ala. — Mobile shipyard Blakeley BoatWorks is among 24 small shipyards in 19 states to receive $19.6 million disbursed to small shipyards by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Maritime Administration’s Small Shipyard Grant Program, AL.com reported. The federal grant program intends to help awardees modernize, increase productivity and expand local employment opportunities, while competing in the global marketplace. Blakeley BoatWorks, part of the Mobile-basedCooper Group of Cos., will receive $722,460 to support the purchase of major components of metalworking equipment, specifically welding machines and material-handling equipment.
