Extra Space Storage Settling In to Old Mobile Toys ‘R’ Us

Extra Space Storage, which has occupied the 49,000-ft2 former Toys ‘R’ Us Building on Bel Air Boulevard in Mobile for the last three months, has been implementing “no-contact rentals” to prevent spread of COVID-19. Its climate-controlled storage warehouse includes safety enhancements like Plexiglas® shields, a new layout that supports social distancing, personal protective equipment for employees and sanitization. Assistant Manager Dan Jobson, a native of Mobile, explained that he’s pleased to be part of the second-largest storage provider in the country. When asked about COVID-19 issues, he said, “Many customers are in transitions and choose to store with us. We have hand sanitizers on every entryway and are doing everything we can to keep people safe. Our business is not affected by it greatly; we are focusing on awareness that we’re open. We have been steadily gaining business, which we expect will continue.”
