Maisel Named CEO of The Year

Business Alabama has announced that winners of the annual Business Alabama Awards included Elliot B. Maisel, chairman and CEO of Gulf Distributing Holdings, LLC. Maisel was named CEO of the Year from a pool of five finalists from businesses across the state. He has led Gulf Distributing since the early 1990s, when he took over management of the company from his mother and the company’s founder, Freida G. Maisel. Gulf Distributing said that, under his leadership, it has grown exponentially in both sales volume and revenue by partnering with additional beverage manufacturers and acquiring existing distributorships. This January, a company-wide leadership restructure and payroll increases in multiple departments were among its news. Business Alabama took nominations for awards in seven categories, and a selection committee named finalists and a winner in each category.
