Port Authority Has Strongest Revenue Year

The Alabama Port Authority says the deepening of the Mobile Ship Channel contributed to a 20% increase in revenue over the last year, AL.com reports. The authority said it recently closed its 2025-2026 fiscal year with revenue of approximately $245 million, making it “the strongest revenue year in its history.” It partially credited the increase to the October 13, 2025, opening of a major project that deepened and widened the channel. That project dovetails with hundreds of millions of dollars in work to increase the port’s capacity. In particular, an ongoing multiphase campaign is expanding the capacity of APM Terminals’ container terminal. The authority has also been working to exploit the port’s railroad connections to open direct container connections to central and north Alabama.
