Silver Ships Delivers AASB On Time

Aluminum boat builder Silver Ships, Inc. of Theodore has completed, tested and delivered a new assault amphibian safety boat (AASB) for the U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Navy. Silver Ships said it has now delivered 25 of 31 AASBs on time since production has been in place. The first hull was built and tested less than nine months after the initial contract was awarded. The vessels can carry 28 passengers and have tailored communications, safety and rescue equipment to support offshore and nighttime operations. Their draft is only 2 ft, and they have twin 250-hp Mercury SeaPro outboard engines. They are 39 ft long with a 10-ft beam and 25° deadrise, allowing them to easily cut through harsh waters.
