Flight Works Alabama Hosts Tours, Unveils Classroom Kits

The first day of tours by Flight Works Alabama this month was a sellout, with visitors from eight states taking the guided tour of the Airbus A320 Final Assembly Line. The next tour will be held on December 5, giving guests a chance to witness the production of Airbus A320 aircraft, while learning about the manufacturing process from the arrival of major component assemblies at the Port of Mobile to the final test flight.

The nonprofit also recently introduced a set of classroom kits and techniques that it hopes classrooms around the country will use to encourage the development of innovation and inventions, Business Alabama reported. “We Build It Better innovation kits” are to “introduce new and inventive technologies, expose students to techniques that help build new skill sets, provide hours of curriculum and activities, offer unique resources and promote career awareness,” Flight Works said. Beginning in January 2021, middle-school teachers will be sent the first three of seven curriculums as part of a pilot program, which will conclude in spring 2021. We Build It Better is a collaboration of Flight Works, Airbus, the State of Alabama, the Alabama Power Foundation, Amazon Web Services, Snap-on Inc., Mott MacDonald, the University of South Alabama and the University of West Alabama.
