Arkema Dedicates Axis Warehouse

Arkema recently dedicated the warehouse at its Axis site to Curtis Andry, a World War II veteran and longtime employee. Andry was presented with a plaque during a special joint event with the Mobile Chamber on January 30, which named the warehouse the Curtis Andry Support Center. Andry served in World War II in the 761st Tank Battalion, known as the “Black Panthers.” He received the Purple Heart in 2022 and has been featured in documentaries about the 761st, including 761st Tank Battalion: The Original Black Panthers hosted by Morgan Freeman. Arkema says he was the second person hired at the plant and was its first retiree. He ran the warehouse during the 10 years he worked for Arkema. In December 2023, the Mobile Chamber named Arkema its 2023 Manufacturer of the Year.
