Evonik Resumes Mepron Operations

MOBILE, Ala. — Evonik has resumed operations at its Mepron plant in Mobile, meaning it will again supply the U.S. milk and dairy markets from a local source, it announced. Evonik had stopped producing Mepron at the facility after globally adjusting its manufacturing capacities for it due to the pandemic and uncertainty of demand. With more than 9 million high-performance dairy cows, the U.S. is the world’s largest single market for the special methionine formulation that prevents degradation in rumen and fosters a balanced nutrient supply for dairy cows. The resumption of its production in Mobile is creating 10 high-skilled jobs at the site.
