New South Lumber To Expand Axis Facility

New South Lumber Co., Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Canfor Southern Pine, Inc., is investing $10.5 million to expand operations at its Axis facility. The company is adding a new dual-path continuous dry kiln to increase drying capacity, improve operational efficiency and support future growth. New South Lumber says the move will retain more than 250 jobs and strengthen the region’s position in the forest products industry. “Canfor’s continued investment reflects a strong vote of confidence in Mobile County’s workforce and business environment,” said Mobile County Commission President Connie Hudson. “This expansion not only supports more than 250 jobs, but also strengthens one of our core industries and positions Mobile County for continued growth and long-term success.” Construction is scheduled to begin this month, with completion anticipated in June.
