The Cooper Group Acquires Thomasville Lumber

Cooper Lumber, a division of Cooper Timberlands, which is a company of Mobile-based The Cooper Group, has acquired Thomasville Lumber Co. Inc. in Thomasville, Business Alabama reports. Thomasville Lumber, owned and operated by James Dixon since 2001, produces 4/4 and 8/4 rough and dressed pine lumber for both the domestic and export markets. The company has a history stretching back to 1966, when R.R. Bedwell started a small lumber mill. Since then, it has changed hands and products multiple times. Angus Cooper, III, president of The Cooper Group, said, “The addition of Thomasville Lumber greatly enhances Cooper Lumber’s ability to meet growing customer demand and provide the industry’s highest standard of lumber products and customer service.” The addition of the Thomasville Sawmill brings The Cooper Group’s annual pine lumber production to more than 57 million board ft.
