Master Boat Builders Delivers Electric Tugboat

Master Boat Builders in Coden has delivered the eWolf, the first all-electric ship-assist harbor tugboat in the U.S., The Business View reported. Designed byCrowley Engineering Services, it will serve the Port of San Diego and operate with zero emissions, while providing the performance capabilities of a traditional tugboat. Federal, state and local government partners also collaborated on the vessel, which will generate 178 T. less nitrogen oxide, 2.5 T. less diesel particulate matter and 3,100 mT less carbon dioxide over the first 10 years of its operations. After transport and final demonstration trials, the 82-ft harbor boat will operate at the Port of San Diego upon completion of Crowley’s microgrid shoreside charging station. Harbor operations are expected to begin this spring.
