Alan Sealls Featured On National Weather Site

The long career of NBC 15 Chief Meteorologist Alan Sealls was featured in a recent article on AccuWeather. The article looks at how Sealls had many firsts in his career as an African-American, often as the first to fill certain roles, something that spoke to the lack of representation of people of color in the field of meteorology. He entered the field as the first Black meteorologist on TV in Albany, Georgia, in 1987. He then broke similar ground in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 1988 before starting at a new station in Chicago in 1992. In 2018, he was elected as the president of the National Weather Association, the first African-American to hold the title.
