Call News Wins Statewide Awards

Call News reports that it won first place for the state’s best sports coverage and best local education coverage by the Alabama Press Association. In Division C among the state’s largest weekly newspapers, it won among nearly 2,000 entries from 58 publications judged by the North Carolina Press Association. Additionally, Editor Jimmy Wigfield won two first-place awards for best in-depth sports news coverage and best single-event coverage, and Emmett Burnett won first place for best humorous column. In all, Call News won 12 awards.
