Alabama Writing Conference Coming To Orange Beach

Writers across Alabama will gather at the Orange Beach Community Center for the 2025 Alabama Writers’ Cooperative (AWC) Annual Conference on September 12-14. The three-day event will bring together authors, poets and storytellers of all backgrounds. Workshops, manuscript critiques, an awards dinner and the election of the state’s next poet laureate are planned. Conference attendees may hear from seasoned writers and publishing professionals. Former Alabama Poet Laureate Kerry Madden-Lunsford will deliver the keynote speech at the Saturday night banquet. She will speak about tackling tough topics in fiction for young readers. That evening, winners of the AWC Writing Contest will be honored during an awards ceremony. Throughout the weekend, writers may attend sessions on improving their daily writing routines, preparing query letters and understanding the publishing process. The event is open to the public.
